Talking Stage: “Why Aren’t They Texting Me Back?”

So you meet this cool person. Let’s say you met him/her at a game night at your best friend's boyfriend house. You guys are hitting it off, “instant spark” they call it, or I call it. Whatever.

Game-night is over and as you are getting ready to leave they ask for your number. You give it to them and they texts you as you’re walking out. You smile (bad, bad don’t smile)

It’s been about 2 weeks since y'all been talking, you guys hung out once but now conversation is dull. Things aren’t as exciting and all of a sudden you start asking yourself, “Why aren’t they texting me back?”

At this point you’re like yeah Pam i’ve experience this but why aren’t they texting me back. The girl in me answer is … I ask myself that question about 200 times a day.

The smart human in me answer is… re-fucking-lax.

In this generation of technology and social media we know everyone is always on their phones. So the second someone does not speak to you within a few minutes your brain goes bonkers.

This is where clear communication comes to play, it is vital to speak about what form of communication works best for you and this person. Believe it or not, this person not texting you for hours or even days doesn’t mean they might not like you “anymore”.  Perhaps texting just isn’t their cup of tea, or shot of jack.

It is okay to be like... “ hey, are we okay? I do sense our conversation patterns are different”...Yeah they might think your crazy or they might understand you simply would like to know if everything is fine. That’s the thing, you never actually know until you ask.

I rather ask, lay it all out and move on from there.

Some people are scared to seem “crazy” or “clingy” but asking a question like this does neither. It is just asking for clarification, which you so rightfully deserve if for two weeks you’ve been giving this individual the time of day.

Time is too damn precious for you to think asking a question and seeking clarification makes no sense after two weeks.

TWO WEEKS OF TIME, IS A WHOLE PAYCHECK. Keep that in mind.

To wrap it up and keep it simple I’ll tell you this.. Just seek good communication, whether you’ve been speaking to someone for two days, two weeks or have been in a relationship for 2 years. Open communication and not being afraid to ask questions is essential. If you can’t ask a question, do you even care of a text back?
